The ‘Shi Piao’ is one of the most timeless Yixing teapot shapes. It has been crafted according to the ‘half-hand’ (半手工) tradition, where the body of the pot is shaped in a gypsum case, while the handle, spout, lid and holes are shaped and fixed entirely by hand.

The wood firing process has created vibrant patterns on the surface, giving a prismatic effect when catching the light, shining a subtle gold particularly in natural light.

Engravings on the teapot were carefully done by the artist Zhonglin 仲林, on one side is a Mandarin fish, carved in the style of Ming artist Bada Shanren. On the other side is an inscription of three Chinese characters, “吞云梦” ('imbued with a daring spirit')
