Clay: aged duanni, Huanglongshan黄龙山原矿老段泥
Potter: half handmade by Zhang Yanru 张艳茹
Spout Type: single hole with a built-in stainless filter
Capacity: 120ml
Weight: 115g

Artisanal method

This teapot has been crafted using the traditional ‘half-hand’ (半手工) method, where the body of the pot is shaped in a gypsum case, while the handle, spout, lid and holes are shaped and fixed entirely by hand.

Aesthetic

Rich in historical connotations, the exterior of this teapot has been shaped reminiscent of the Han Wa tiles found adorning traditional Chinese rooftops, with its stand out feature is the excellent hand-carved work on the lid, depicting coins and book scraps from ancient China.

Usage

Due to the spacious interior of this teapot, it is able to let the tea leaves relax and unfurl inside while brewing. This teapot is well suited for use with a variety of different teas, though I particularly like it for Sheng Pu'er, green and white.
