This handmade teapot from Jingdezhen, China is a stunning and rarely-seen example of ‘chai-shao’ fired pottery, the surface pattern a result of the fire and melted wood ash reacting in the wood-firing process. The teapot has a unique mix of warm oranges and jade green tones, with a scattering of naturally-formed specks dappled across its surface.

Inside, the potter has carefully crafted a ball-shaped filter which aids smooth pouring and stops leaves from clogging the spout. The lip has been carefully designed so that it pours cleanly and won't drip when drawing back.
