This wood-fired gongdao bei made by Zhang Jian is masterful result of the combined efforts of human and nature. The surface of the gongdao features unique pitted patterns caused by deliberate cracking. These crackles will gradually absorb the colour of tea and over time you will see a slow change in colour as you use it to brew your tea.

Wood fired pottery is finished with melted wood ash on its surface, meaning no artificial glazes are needed in the process. It also results in a beautiful pattern and colour combination on the surface, giving a unique texture and finish to each individual piece that comes out of the kiln.

The lip has been crafted so that it pours cleanly and won't drip when drawing back.

The size is suitable for a small gaiwan or teapot under 80ml.
