This handmade gongdao bei from Jingdezhen, China is a stunning and rarely-seen example of ‘chai-shao’ fired pottery. There is no artificial glaze on the cup. During the wood firing process, when the wood ash goes into the kiln, some falls on the teawares, with constant high temperature firing, resulting in a different colour, pattern, texture, etc for each piece of teaware. The surface pattern is a result of the fire and melted wood ash reacting in the wood-firing process.

The lip of the cup has been carefully designed so that it pours cleanly and won't drip when drawing back.

Please note this gongdao bei is smaller than normal, it's perfect for 1-2 people.
