An interesting find from a Chinese collector, this Japanese vase is glazed both inside and out as its intended purpose is for ikebana (flower arrangement). The surface has been painted with bamboo patterns using iron-pigmented paints, a tradition found in Japan and Korea and difficult to find elsewhere. The special pigment shines a dull iron-red under light.
