This wood-fired teapot from Jingdezhen, China is masterful result of the combined efforts of human and nature.

Wood firing pottery is finished with melted wood ash on its surface, meaning no artificial glazes are needed in the process. It also results in a beautiful pattern and colour combination on the surface, giving a unique texture and finish to each individual piece that comes out of the kiln. The earthy tone and matte finish is a result of direct exposure to fire for up up to 3-5 days.

This teapot stands out in particular for its subtle yet eye-catching appearance - make this piece the focal point of your tea table.

Inside, the potter has carefully crafted a ball-shaped filter which aids smooth pouring and stops leaves from clogging the spout. The lip has been carefully designed so that it pours cleanly and won't drip when drawing back.
