This teapot was handmade by Banzhai (半斋) Studio in Jingdezhen, and can be used over either a charcoal stove or an electronic stove.

Inside, the potter has carefully crafted a ball-shaped filter which aids smooth pouring and stops leaves from clogging the spout. The lip has been carefully designed so that it pours cleanly and won't drip when drawing back.

Due to the porosity of this type of clay, water should not be left in the teapot over night, otherwise a small amount of water will seep through during inital use. Over time and with use, any seeping will gradually go away,as the clay will gradually absorb minerals from the water it boils, sealing the pores.

Much like a wok, this type of teapot can be seasoned before use in order to expedite the process of waterproofing. A little pouch of rice is included with the teapot for this purpose, simply:

1. Put hot water and the rice into the teapot, disposing of the pouch, then simmer on a low heat for around 10 minutes, stirring the rice every now and again

2. Let it cool down and leave overnight

3. Carefully clean, your teapot is now ready to use!
