A realisation of the Chinese concept of ku cho (古拙 'simple imperfection'), this teapot is a masterpiece hand-sculpted by Ye Minzhi, master potter of Minzhi Studio.
The potter has combined a simple, rustic exterior featuring subtle references to the Chinese roof tile, a symbol of home, with a rarely-seen triangular base. Imprinted on its surface are patterns from an ancient roof tile, while the lid features a small knob that has been shaped to represent a Han dynasty tile, complete with begonia flower in hollow negative relief.
This teapot has not been thrown on a wheel, but has been sculpted entirely by hand. The result is a one-of-a-kind, perfectly imperfect teapot that will stand out in any collection. The interior features a delicately crafted ball-shaped filter, which allows for smooth pouring and avoids leaves clogging the spout. The spout cuts water perfectly.
